Cataract and vision correction
The cataract service investigates reduced vision, assesses suitability for surgery and considers different intraocular-lens options. Complex cases may involve other eye conditions that alter what surgery can achieve. Decisions about the operation and lens therefore take account of the cornea, retina, other clinical findings and the patient’s everyday visual needs.
Glaucoma and pressure-related eye damage
Glaucoma specialists evaluate intraocular pressure, changes to the optic nerve and visual-field loss. Depending on how advanced the disease is, treatment can involve medication, laser procedures or surgery. Because glaucoma-related damage may progress without obvious symptoms, regular measurements and long-term monitoring are central to care.
Retinal disorders and other complex eye diseases
Dedicated services also cover retinal disease, uveitis, corneal disorders and tumours affecting the eye. These conditions often require different examinations and very different forms of treatment. Specialist triage is particularly important when vision changes suddenly, inflammation is difficult to control or an unusual retinal finding needs further assessment.
Clinical practice and treatment decisions
Different eye conditions call for very different decisions. Cataract assessment focuses on the lens and suitability for surgery; retinal disease may require specialised imaging and medical or surgical treatment; glaucoma care is concerned with protecting the optic nerve and controlling pressure; and paediatric eye disease may involve visual development as well as anatomical abnormalities. The centre’s official specialist directory allows patients to begin with a disease-specific team rather than choosing a doctor by seniority alone.

Unlike many of the hospitals in this directory, the centre publishes a dedicated International Eye Care page. It explicitly identifies foreign nationals, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents, and commercially insured patients among its service groups, and provides a direct appointment telephone line and email address. This is a documented international appointment route; any quotation for surgery, coverage or language assistance should still be confirmed for the patient’s case.
Prof. Liu Yizhi
Cataract and complex lens surgery
The official expert directory describes Professor Liu’s experience with cataract operations, including paediatric and complicated lens conditions.
Prof. Lin Haotian
Cataract care and ophthalmic AI research
The centre lists Professor Lin in cataract care and research involving ophthalmic medical data and artificial intelligence.
These are selected clinicians identified in public institutional profiles, not a live appointment or employment-status check. Their involvement in a particular case must be confirmed through the hospital.
